The timeline gives you that map. Add scenes as you think of them. Drop characters into the scenes they belong in. Watch the plotlines take shape across the top. Nothing is fixed. Move things around until the shape feels right.

Every character in your story appears as a node. The more scenes two share, the stronger the line between them. Characters with many connections pull toward the centre. Characters sitting at the edge have fewer connections. Sometimes that's intentional. Sometimes it's a problem worth fixing..
